I’m writing from Los Angeles where Ryan Brown and Kate Croft have met me to begin a 30-day journey of outreach to find Kalu Yala’s first citizens. We have a Nissan Altima Hybrid, laptops, smart phones, a box full of vision brochures and investment documents, and a rolodex full of great people: both thought leaders in sustainability and friends with well-located guest bedrooms.
We’re on the road to meet face to face with the people Kalu Yala will need to launch the world’s most sustainable modern town. These include the young people whom we have designed twenty special cottages for who will breathe the energy of youth into the town; our twenty First Founders whose investment will power the design and groundbreaking; our first small business owners that will serve the community and our guests; and the thought leaders who will engage the global citizens who will hold us accountable while also assuring we are using the best ideas possible.
Learn more about the four types of citizens we want to meet
Our journey will take us through some of the most beautiful parts of America: starting in Los Angeles, we next head north to the Bay Area, then onto Bellingham and Vancouver before coming back down to Portland. Then we will leave the West Coast and head to Jackson Hole and down through the Rockies to Boulder and Denver, finally heading to Texas to meet with people in Dallas and Austin.
We are on the move and filling our calendars to meet with passionate people interested in being part of creating the world’s most sustainable village. If you or someone you know is one of those people, we would love to try to connect. Please e-mail Kate at [email protected]
