When I first arrived in Panama I heard about Envision festival in Costa Rica; it immediately appealed to me, as I have never been to a festival where you camp. I wanted to go, and I was going to make it happen, one way or another. Alot of people mentioned how ‘they want to go’… In the end it was only Courntey and I who achieved what we said we were going to do; we went – and it is such an amazing manifestation story…
Wednesday afternoon, I left San Miguel and took the two busses back to la Ciudad de Panama. I went straight to Albrook Bus Terminal to buy Courtney and I each a night ticket… They were sold out. I went back to the apartment with a PMA (positive mental attitude) – I was manifesting that we would be leaving tonight for Costa Rica.
Courtney and I went back to the Bus Terminal around 9.pm, and waited around for the possibility that seats would become available. They did. Words cannot describe how excited and happy we were; seats 50 and 51 were ours. We finally found the bus for Costa Rica, and the driver said that there were only 48 seats… So he sat us at the back by the stinky baño in seats 47 and 48. A lady then came on and got all fiesty with us (in spanish) for sitting in her seat. We did not get this far to be kicked off the bus. The driver came back on and moved us to seats 45 and 46… We were holding our breath; awaiting the bus to pull out of the station. It did… And we were on our way.
At around 8am we crossed the border into Costa Rica, where we found out that the road we were on was blocked by protestors, and no-one was getting through. Thank you universe for blocking the road after we got through; had we been an hour behind our current schedule we would have not made it.
We were fast asleep when the driver walked back to us and told us we were in Dominical. YEA! We were sleepy and flustered when we got off the bus and asked where the beach was. “todo recto”… And when the bus pulled away we realized we were in the middle of no-where on a highway. We stopped; acknowledged how far we have come, and how this weekend was truly meant to be. We were dehydrated… And started walking in the blistering heat. Having only walked about 3 feet a gringo in a car yelled out to us “y’all going to the festival” “get in – I’ll give you a ride!”
He was a an expat living in San Jose; and had started, what is now, a renowned farmers market in the city. He was selling smoothies at the festival. He took us straight to the ticket tent… Which was approx. a 90minute walk from where we were. The luck kept on coming. We got our ticket… And started walking back to the main road to find some water, and ask around for a hostel to stay in for the night. We walked for approximately 5minutes, and we got a ride to the local supermarket (which would have been about an hour walk int he heat). We couldn’t believe our luck. We each got a large bottle of water, and sat outside. As we sat outside the mini super Courtney was enjoying her ice cream while I was downing my water… We must have looked like a right pair. Tired; dehydrated; huge backpacks with yoga mats and a tent, after a 13hour bus ride. A french man asked us if we needed camping… We did! It felt right… The stars were aligning once again… Manifesting before our eyes. He gave us a ride to this local camp spot by the beach, and when we got there… It didn’t feel right. My intuition was telling me no. I spoke up; and Courtney and wandered a few blocks to this hostel. Flutterby House. It was the same price a glorious $6 per night… It had showers; hammocks; slack line; a kitchen GLORIOUS. We set up camp and then rented a bike each. $2 per hour… It felt so freeing to be back on a bike. It was a beach cruiser that bounced over the rocks and debris on the road. We cycled back and told the Frenchie we were staying elsewhere; and thanked him.
In the blistering heat we sweated profusely as we smiled and cycled through the dust along the dirt road to the Festival. We cycled past the ticket pick up and parking field… All the way to the festival entrance. We didn’t have a ticket for Thursday, but security was so lax we went straight in. We were the only ones on bikes; and the vibe inside was magnetic. It made me daydream about Burning Man… Cycling around in the dust; one day I will make it there. We sat in on a seminar about ‘Amazing Relationships’; it was perfect. He talked about 8 steps to having an Amazing relationships; some of the steps I have learned the hard way… So it was interesting hearing peoples questions and comments about hard experiences I have already been through, and subsequently learnt from.
Thursday ended with me renting a surf board and having a sunset surf. It was breathtaking being out in the water seeing the different colours of the Sun shine down as it sets. I met a guy in the water… Who is from Pavones, a small surf town in South West Costa; I knew exactly where he lived as I worked at The Yoga Farm back in 2010. Its a small world. He so kindly gave me some pointers. Back on the beach people were having fires, and spinning poi and hoola hoops. Courtney was in her element with the night hoola hoop. What an amazing eventful day of manifestation. We had made it to Envision so extremely smoothly.
One thing that I have learnt about ‘relationships’ is how fear can overcome your thoughts. I have learnt to acknowledge and let go of the fear… Just focus on the positive, and the present moment, instead of allowing that fear to creep in. Looking back, fear used to rule my thoughts, whether I was present to it or not… For example; someone amazing entered my life, and I will live in fear ‘this person is going to leave me; this person is going to break my heart; this is too good to be true’. Its not too good to be true. Now, when amazing things happen to me; or I cross paths and connect with amazing people… I thank the universe – I am blessed and grateful; not fearful. My mindset speaks to what I want to manifest i.e. “I hope we meet again” “I am thankful for this smooth journey”. When things do not pan out so gracefully… I know there is something for me to learn; and that is what I dwell on… What is it that the universe is telling me… What is the lesson here.
